Software Engineering
- Models of Software Development. I was asked to explain any two.
- Testing process.
- The way I incorporated the software development process in my projects.
DBMS
- Again, questions on mini-project. Simple stuff like Database design, tables, relations, queries.
Computer Networks
- Layers of the OSI model (explanation)
- Protocols used in each layer
- What happens when a URL is entered in a browser?
- How do you make sure that a network connection is established properly?
Operating Systems
- Explain what an Operating System is in pure layman terms.
- What are the things to be checked to know if an OS is installed correctly?
- Explain a few commands in UNIX/DOS.
- (easiest question) How do you create a new user account in Windows?
Algorithms and Programming
- The interviewer explained to me how 'BOGO sort' works. The question was to find out how many iterations are required to sort a given set of numbers using Bogo sort.
- Pseudocode/algorithm/program to convert numerical figures to words. ( The scenario that I was given was that of a bank cheque/DD where a person has to write the amount of transaction in both numbers as well as in words )
Please note :
- Many other things that I was asked apart from the questions mentioned above, were based on the stuff that I put in my resume. So make sure that you're prepared for everything that's in your resume. (It is sometimes better to avoid mentioning things on paper that you are not confident about.)
- Confidence and a good body language are the things that will give a good impression about you to the Interviewers. So, don't hesitate to express yourself clearly.
- Most of the interviews end with 'Do you have any questions for us'? . It is not compulsory that you've to ask them something, but it is definitely advisable to have an interaction with the interviewers. You don't have to sound all technical or complicated in your questions. Simple (not silly) ones will do the job just fine.
- Have a smile on your face no matter what is going on in your mind. Showing out signs of frustration or confusion will just spoil the whole thing.
